This year's shortlist:
And So I Watch You From Afar – Gangs (Richter Collective) Bell X1 – Bloodless Coup (Belly Up Records) Cashier No. 9 – To The Death Of Fun (Bella Union) Lisa Hannigan - Passenger (Hoop Records) The Japanese Popstars – Controlling Your Allegiance (EMI) Jape – Ocean of Frequency (Music Is For Losers) Patrick Kelleher & His Cold Dead Hands – Golden Syrup (Osaka Records) Pugwash – The Olympus Sounds (EMI/1969 Records) Tieranniesaur – Tieranniesaur (Popical Island) We Cut Corners – Today I Realised I Could Go Home Backwards (Delphi)
Very strong list imo, no bad albums on it, although I'd have liked to have seen The Minutes, Squarehead, Fionn Regan and Land Lovers make it. What do ye think?

I couldn't choose between ASIWYFA, Bell X1, Cashier No. 9, Lisa Hannigan or We Cut Corners... Actually, all the albums on there are class, only one I haven't heard is Tieranniesaur.

We Cut Corners for the album award and Lisa Hannigan for the song award. Would like to see Snow Patrol win it, but not for that song!

I'd like Snow Patrol to win the song, mostly just because it'd be Snow Patrol though... Otherwise Goldstar's pretty catchy

Oops thought I'd left my two cents here. I know I was a 'Coronas slut' for a while and would still be a casual fan but a song with the lyrics "if I had a rainbow, I'd put the end of it at our toes" really has no place on a song of the year shortlist, IMO. I actually haven't heard some of the list but I'd go with This Club, it's a fun one

Odd list - one half good (Bell X1, Lisa, Cashier No 9, Little Green Cars & This Club) and the other half pretty dull - sorry SP fans! Hope Velcro wins even if it's nowhere near the best song on that album.

So who saw that coming? Thought Jape would have been long shots given that they won it before. It is a really good album though. Delos for next year?

Delos/Little Green Cars look like front runners for next year at the moment.
