Last night: Belfast, Mandela Hall. So.. Day 1 of the tour. Bit tired and feeling a bit under-practiced due to doing the album and trying to get the new songs shipshape, we arrived up in Belfast to the Mandela Hall. After I discovered the gambling machines and quickly lost all my sterling, we soundchecked with a new version of "Stop", "punx" and a slightly tinkered-with version of "The Rules". At around 9 we played to a big crowd (thanks belfastians!), and even though we made a few mistakes and we didn't get our sound great, we enjoyed it and hopefully some folks did too. afterwards, i had some more gambling fun while the lads drank our generous rider with the help of the attractive members of the Fast Emperors... and then we left, got a kebab and we all jumped in a big hotel-bed, partridge family style. Except with more f*gs and stella. (interesting bell x1 fact: they have loads of different cheeses on their rider. mmnnn..) hopefully we'll keep some sort of diary going, but we can't promise anything K

day 2. Bleurgh... Shouldn't have had that kebab. We arrive at the Nerve Centre, Derry, and after lots of Berocca and water and a good souncheck we wandered around. Had a fairly manky dinner in a superpub place, had a few goes on the gambling machine (note to self: seek help) and sat there smoking cigarettes INDOORS! The novelty! I had a chip, then a drag of a cigarette, then another chip. It wasn't very nice, but it tasted like freedom. smokey freedom. (when we got back the bell x1 lads told us there was a fantastic place next door.... ah well.) At the gig we played a new song - "Punx" - for the first time and it was pretty good, and afterwards we sat around with Simple Kid and gave each other nicknames... (interesting Bell X1 fact: Before every gig they perform the rap from "Gansters Paradise" backstage, with each member taking a verse)*

Wifebeater and cigarettes- what a combo. Even better when they're both consumed indoors! The tour sounds like it's goin well so far (there's nothing better than finding out you need help when you're at the height of it all) - well done/congratulations/whatever! And only a few more days til the Cork gig!! Eeeekk! Yer the shit, lads!

Day 3. TF forum, Castlebar
SO we woke up in our lovely hotel, almost half of us had showers, and we jumped on the bumpy road to Castlebar - stopping over only for soggy sandwiches and Yop in Donegal. We got to the massive venue in Castlebar just in time for our soundcheck, did that, had a few minutes to write a setlist [Until the next time, Punx, Leave it on, Basis, Stop, Do you realise, Waiting and Idle conversation] and then we played just after the venue opened up. Kinda weird playing to a huge venue with a handful of people in it, but i guess the castlebar faithful aren't an early gig crowd... Nevertheless, we coaxed some nice folks up the front, played as best we could and some folks liked it and came up afterwards and said hello. The venue itself is fantastic, and the Bell x1 boyos put on a great show. Afterwards we had lots of heineken, and cut a rug on the dancefloor. At about 4 in the morning we had chicken burgers in the rain and hoped people would be early risers for the next ones, especially considering belfast and derry were so good... early start tomorrow for waterford....
(interesting bell x1 fact: Brian makes a tasty crisp and ham sanger.)

ok, Ro here to tell y'all about day 4 of bell x 1 tour, the day of the 6 hour drive!!!! wooooh! (ghost noise) actually, the only scary thing was the amount of snax, chickatees and monster munch consumed on the way from mayo to waterford thanks to those waterfordians who came up front and partied with us during our set, you made the gig! unfortunately, due to having to leave for home we weren't able to stay around and find these diamonds to thank at the end. hopefully this won't be the case tomorrow night when we're in galway. having played with the lads at the galway arts fesival this summer, we're very excited about returning, this time to leisureland. so if you want to see us, be there early, come to the front, and make lots of noise ;D interesting bell x fact: drummer tim is quite the accomplised dj. interesting delo fact: we really like crisps, but still prefer yop!

last night: Leisureland Galway. So, Day 85023 of the tour. Actually, its 5. Or 6. So sunday was a day off, we all went and got cleaned up for the south-west leg. We arrived at Dublin airport to collect our special vehicle for the journey down. Unfortunately the DeloJet was in the shop, so we dropped into Budget and got a lovely little Ford Focus to carry us cross country. We hit the road with a post-punk cd to have a listen to what some people say we sound like. Do we? hmmm.. I dunno. It was very treble-y anyway.. We arrived to the massive Leisureland venue (we didn't have time for a swim - next time!) and stuffed our faces with Supermacs' finest cuisine, before soundchecking and getting ready. Thanks so much to everyone for turning up early, there may have been no drink and the house-lights were up, but we got a great reception and really enjoyed ourselves. Cheers! After a bit of Simple Kid (SIMLEK ID according to the sign on his door ) and some Bell x1 we headed for some food, (hi to the people who came up to say hello in the diner...! ) and then danced away in the Roisin... (interesting Bell x1 fact: Tim has a jaffa cake between each song to keep his energy up.) K
