I got my sister to buy me In Love With Detail for Christmas because I've never had the album. I bought it for someone else before I was a big fan but put it on my laptop before I gave it to her.

I bought my cousin in America YCMS and got them to sign it for her, it was kinda a belated sweet 16 thing. She was there when I found out they were breaking up so I wanted to show her why I was so upset! Think she likes it, she said she did anyways ;D

That's what all my friends get from me for birthdays and christmas.. ILWD first, and then YCMS. Everyone knows I'll give them a Delo album for presents.

The Irish music scene is dying according to band guru Kieran and "it's f***ing depressing". Strange, that a country that has spawned a vat-load of fabulous big-sounding rock acts, Ireland seems to be unable to fill venues. Delorentos should be, quite frankly.
'You Can Make Sound' is their debut album and it follows in the tradition of under-achievers like Warm Jets, Into Paradise and Blue In Heaven, middle-ground possibles like Screaming Lights and Blue Aeroplanes, yet grabs a few little musical snacks from the larders of U2, Editors and Franz Ferdinand, providing a vibrant tapestry of chiming guitars, latent energy and strong vocals. Yeah - I rather like this.
The first three songs are the equal of the best bands from the above - 'Sanctuary' is a spunky build-up song that shimmers like a winter landscape and throbs majestically like a Rampant Rabbit. Great start, lads. I reckon this positively spits fire when played live ... and what about the single, due for release on March 15th? 'Secret' is so hook-laden I reckon they could catch salmon with it - catchy, catchy, monkey and I'm well-caught in the net. Every radio station should be playing this bouncy little bastard right now. Nuts, it's catchy ...
Now can it all last? Song three is 'Hallucinations' and another power-rocker that goes a bit Franz, a bit U2 and a bit Screaming Lights before becoming a bit Delorentos - see? I'm getting used to them already. And then the shuffle-drums start on 'You Say You'll Never Love Her' with a cheeky little guitar hook and I'm still wondering how a nation can ignore these rather more-ish tunes. I know it's not fashionable to like Snow Patrol, Coldplay and Keane but if they can fill stadiums, there is hope for these chaps. 'Leave Me Alone' is all angst and heart-aches that still hits the heights hook-wise although lyrically it is simplicity all the way. Five songs in - out of 11 - not bad.....
The next one or two wander off into frought Arctics territory and I feel a bit disappointed to be fair - but 'Let The Light Go Out' get's all sweet and shimmery like a negligee and we are off again, towards pop-rock heaven. The remaining three songs are accomplished exercises in anthem-rock that suggest the band changed direction somewhere during the sessions - the title track standing head and shoulders above the previous few tracks. The closer 'I Remember' is a perfect ending with some obvious attention being paid to harmonies and harmonics - nice.
This is a big sounding album full of spunk - and I rarely say that about bands these days. Find it and love it.

A review by some English fella. Pretty good apart from his dislike for Editorial and Body Cold... Boo-urns.

Yeah I saw that on twitter a few days ago. Sounds promising!
Assume by debut album he means debut UK album?

Yeh I can only presume so. 4.5 stars, sounds promising, I do hope they gather a following, in the UK, they deserve it.
